FGH and Fixed Gear riding never went away...it's always lurking in the alleyways in the cities, in the faraway highlands, and on grass tracks across the world. It's here to stay, always! Fixed Gear riding is a lifestyle! It's fun, it builds unbelievable strength and power and in a phrase cut straight from Liam's mouth, " I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career." So very true.
Fixed Gear Hooligans unite: You start with some simple shenanigans and the eventual transformation to a Hooligan follows soon. You don't have to be rich, just thrifty for starters. You can get started on the cheap, and even start as a single speed...build up some skills for churning those legs without a pause, a bit of acro to lean forward, apply power to cease those pedals and earn an alley cat skid. Before you know it, you've got those talents building and building. FGH isn't pretty, it isn't meant to be. It can be brutal, rugged, and crass. It's a smile over the shoulder with the Cheshire cat grin. Helmets are optional, brakes, are optional. The will to hang it all out there, required. A little attitude never hurt either, or just smile on the inside knowing that you have something that is rare among cyclists.
